MESSAGE BYAMDA MARRIEDS CHAIRPERSON

Growing Together in Our Marriages

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, and extend warm greetings from the AMDA Marrieds Council.

I thank the Almighty God for His love and for enabling us to come together in this Eucharistic celebration for this year’s AMDA Palm Sunday Mass, 2026. As we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, may this be reflected in our way of life within our marriages and families.

The AMDA Marrieds Council leadership has taken up the responsibility to play an integral role in guiding, animating, encouraging, and supporting family ministry in order to advance evangelism through families in modern times.

A Christian family remains the first place where children receive instruction in faith. It is rightly referred to as a domestic church. This is a great calling, and we should continually seek God’s grace to fulfill our obligations.

As married couples, it is our responsibility to:

  • Raise children in the teachings of the Church
  • Live exemplary lives
  • Support our families despite challenges and human weaknesses

Married couples are encouraged to find meaningful ways to express love better, do what they would like done for them, and avoid unnecessary conflict. We must continuously apply creativity and faith as we navigate daily challenges and opportunities in marriage.

Challenges Facing Christian Marriage

We acknowledge that Christian marriage is under attack, with key family members (husband, wife, and children) often experiencing emotional strain.

Some of the major challenges include:

  • Gender-based violence
  • Economic stress and hardship
  • Substance abuse (drugs and alcohol)
  • Misuse of technology (phones and computers)
  • Family breakdown

These challenges continue to weaken families and affect their ability to grow and thrive. In some cases, the core values of marriage have been replaced with doubt and instability.

Council Initiatives

To address these challenges and strengthen family ministry, the Marrieds Council has designed programs aimed at:

  • Strengthening marriages
  • Preparing those intending to marry
  • Encouraging positive engagement

Key Activities:

  • Marrieds Dinner: Scheduled for 20th June 2026 (first of its kind)
  • Online Discussions: Focused on relevant, people-centered topics
  • Youth Engagement: Preparing future families and strengthening AMDA’s future

We believe these efforts will help us remain strong and continue shining as the light we were called to be through Baptism.

Leadership Recognition

We commend the Marrieds Council leaders for their tireless efforts in implementing council activities and AMDA programs:
